Layo & Bushwacka!
Biography
Layo & Bushwacka! is comprised of two members Matthew ‘Bushwacka’ B, a percussionist in the London School Symphony Orchestra who was converted into a member of the infamous Rat Pack after a warehouse party in ’88 where he met the infamous Mr. C and Layo Paskin, a North Londoner immersed in the acid house scene who also met Mr. C at one of the legendary Clink street parties ironically also in 1988. It was via their mutual friend Mr. C that the two met, whilst Matthew was working in his studio, and by the mid 90s the two had started writing music together. Over a decade later, the partnership has yielded three artist albums, three mix albums, and internationally renowned club residencies and a superb record label as well as Layo’s infamous side project his world renowned The End in London.

DJing at The End’s subterranean nights alongside Darren Emerson the pair began to cement their foundations at the club and develop their partnership. In 1999 the duo released their debut album “Low Life”, released on End Recordings the label spawned by The End. This album announced the arrival of a new dance music duo set to take the electronic music world by storm. This award winning album included the singles ‘Dead Man Walking’, ‘Bad Old Good Old days’, and ‘Deep South’ and demonstrated their ability to blend complex breaks and sounds at a friendly dance floor house tempo. This inclusive and open-minded approach to sound became the blueprint for future Layo & Bushwacka! work.

It wasn’t long before Layo & Bushwacka! had their own residency at The End ‘All Night Long’ which also became the name of their mix album, an educational journey through electronic music similar to their live sets. It’s the diverse musical tastes which have shone through in their mix albums and live performances and has attributed to much of their success having received high acclaim from fellow production acts such as Basement Jaxx and Deep Dish. Before long they released their second studio album which included the huge chart topper and all time classic ‘Love Story’ which has become a massive club favourite all over the world and inspired several reworks.

Today it is evident that the boys have imposed their unique collaborative blend of electronic dance all over Europe and the US over the years, as well as maintaining residencies at Ku, Pacha and Space in Ibiza. They continue to release music inspired by their travels on their self-found label Olmeto Records which continues to thrive today.
